Cavity Wall Insulation

Cavity Wall Insulation

Foamspray Insulation has been involved with the application of polyurethane foam systems for over 25 years, both sprayed and injected, and commercial and domestic.

Our injected cavity wall system is ideal for both insulation and stabilisation purposes.

A cavity wall consists of two skins, an inner and an outer separated by a space i.e. a cavity

Cavity wall insulation is used to reduce heat loss through the cavity wall by filling the hollow space with insulation thereby reducing heating costs and making the structure more stable.

It is resistant to moisture ingress and is recommended by the Environment Agency as a measure to reduce flood damage to walls.

Once the system is injected into the cavity in liquid form, the material finds its lowest point then begins to slowly react, rising and filling all uneven cavities forming a solid, continuous mass with no gaps.

This is replicated throughout the installation using a pre-set pattern of drilled holes ensuring a level, even fill all the way through eliminating any gaps or voids.

Once installed, the foam will remain very effective throughout the life of the building requiring no further maintenance.

Fire Resistance

Pirthane® ‘O’ is an insulating system with excellent fire resistant properties. It complies with the requirements for a Class 0 surface as defined in Paragraph A12(b) of Approved Document B ‘Fire Safety’, to the Building Regulations 1991. It has a Class 1 surface spread of flame when tested to BS476 Part 7 1997; when tested to BS476 Part 6 1989 the material achieved a fire propagation index (I) of not more than 12 and subindex (i1) of not more than 6.

PIRTHANE® ‘O’ comprises of a low thermal conductivity insulating foam.

Duratherm® OS is an HCFC AND CFC FREE two component, 1:1 ratio, rigid foam system which produces a rigid foam of approximate density 40kg/m3  with exceptionally good compressive strength. Service temperature range -15°C to 70°C. When tested to BS476 part 7 the foam achieves a Class 1 surface spread of flame.

Vapour Control Layer (VCL)

Used in conjunction with Duratherm® OS, our sprayable vapour barrier coatings have Class 0 compliance and therefore dry to form a flame resistant finish.

Condensation problems

Buildings suffering from poor insulation are prone to issues with condensation. Applying a minimal thickness of 30mm of polyurethane spray foam insulation, will ensure a condensation free environment.

With spray foam insulation there is no need to compromise on insulation standards or energy efficiency in either retro-fit or new build projects.
